The New Jersey State Policy Lab’s fourth annual summer internship program is now open and accepting applications for undergraduate and graduate students until March 21st.
The Policy Lab is seeking a diverse pool of candidates (e.g., racial/ethnic group, socioeconomic status, military service, age, gender/identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disability, etc.) for a paid, 10-week internship which will involve exploring public policy topics in New Jersey. The internship will take place in-person three days a week (Mondays – Wednesdays) from June 2nd to August 6th at the Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy.
Students eligible for this internship must be undergraduates who have completed at least two years of study or graduate students pursuing a master’s degree. This program is not intended for students enrolled in doctoral-level programs or for those who will be graduating in May 2025.
The New Jersey State Policy Lab summer internship is intended for students interested in researching public policy issues, and each intern will be responsible for researching a public policy topic of their choosing. Such topics could be related to the environment, economics, public health, education, or any other relevant policy subject.
Interns will conduct a literature review, prepare an annotated bibliography, secure CITI certification for research with human subjects, draft one or more research blogs which might be published on the Policy Lab’s website, and make a presentation to faculty, staff, family, and friends. Interns will also have the opportunity to hear more than a dozen faculty members from Rutgers (New Brunswick, Newark, and Camden campuses) discuss their research interests and challenges.
All interested candidates are encouraged to submit an application along with a writing sample and a copy of their resume. Full information to apply is available on the New Jersey State Policy Lab Summer Internship page.
