Bernice Amankwah
Summer Intern

Bernice Amankwah is a Bachelor’s student majoring in Health Administration at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. She is also part of the Global Village at Douglass Residential College. She holds an A.S. in Business Administration and Health Administration from Ocean County College. Her research interests address the disparities present in our communities from education policy to health equity. This summer, her research focuses on mitigating maternal mortality rates for Black women by providing women-centered care. She presented her research project, “Promoting Science Identity and Efficacy,” at Ezra L. Nolan Middle School and Lincoln High School, both in Jersey City, at the Rutgers Undergraduate Research Writing Conference (URWC). She has been nominated as a fellow for the Ralph Voorhees Fellowship Program for Fall 2024, where she will be working collaboratively with community organizations.
