Jessica Korins is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Public Health at the Rutgers University School of Public Health. Her policy research interests include eating behavior, health disparities, and the relationship between ecological and human health, particularly as reflected in the food system. She is also interested in understanding and strengthening the relationship between experts and communities to foster trust and improve public health outcomes. As a summer intern with the New Jersey State Policy Lab, Jessica’s research focuses on how food recovery and redistribution systems improve diet quality and reduce food insecurity. She aims to evaluate how these systems can be expanded to increase their impact, and to identify policies that enhance access to nutritious foods and broaden participation in food recovery networks to help reduce diet-related chronic disease.
