Melissa O. Tier
Research Affiliate
Melissa Oberon Tier is a Ph.D. candidate at the Princeton School of Public & International Affairs in the Science, Technology, & Environmental Policy program. Her research on climate adaptation policy interweaves topics in multi-level governance, environmental justice, urban planning, and behavioral science. In addition to her work with the New Jersey State Policy Lab, Melissa is a research affiliate of the multi-institutional Megalopolitan Coastal Transformation Hub (housed at Rutgers-New Brunswick), the Center for Policy Research on Energy & the Environment (Princeton University), and the Behavioral Science for Policy Lab (Princeton University) – and is also the lead instructor for a co-taught Environmental Justice course with the NJ Prison Teaching Initiative. Prior to her Ph.D., Melissa served for 5 years as the first Sustainability Program Manager at Swarthmore College and holds an MSc in Sustainable Urban Development from the University of Oxford and a BA in Psychology from Swarthmore.
